NuAqua Water Softener and Aplos Alpha Bundle
Soft water throughout the house and low-maintenance purified water at the kitchen tap. Our cabinet softener removes 100% of limescale from your supply, and the Aplos Alpha delivers 90 litres an hour of reverse osmosis water from a membrane rated for three years and beyond. Both systems professionally installed. Add a mineral filter for €50 if you prefer your water with calcium and magnesium put back in.
Why you need both, not one
A softener and a drinking water filter solve different problems, which is why buying just one often leaves people half-satisfied.
A softener works on the incoming main and protects everything downstream: your boiler, washing machine, dishwasher, showers and taps. What it does not do is purify. A reverse osmosis system does the opposite. It produces exceptionally pure water, but only at one tap. Fitted together, you get limescale protection through the whole house and genuinely clean drinking water in the kitchen.
The NuAqua Cabinet Water Softener
A compact, high-efficiency volumetric softener built from premium BPA-free, odourless, food-grade materials, in a sleek cabinet design that fits neatly in a kitchen or utility room.
- Save on energy bills. Hard water reduces heating efficiency. Softening restores boiler and heater performance, helping you save up to 24% annually on energy costs.
- Softer skin and shinier hair. Gentler on skin, especially for eczema or sensitive skin. Soaps and shampoos lather better and skin feels smooth, not dry or tight.
- Eliminate limescale. Untreated water can reduce flow by up to 75% in as little as 18 months. This system prevents that build-up, protecting your plumbing and appliances.
- Cut detergent costs. Use up to 50% less shampoo, soap and detergent, with better cleaning results.
- Extend appliance lifespan. Your washing machine, dishwasher, water heater and shower last longer and need less maintenance.
The Aplos Alpha
A 600 GPD direct-flow system producing 90 litres an hour with no storage tank, built around a patented membrane rated for three years and beyond. Five stages of filtration are consolidated into just three cartridges, so there is less to buy and less to think about.
- Patented membrane rated for 3 years and beyond. The membrane is the expensive part of any RO service, so fewer replacements means a meaningfully lower cost of ownership than systems needing one every two years.
- Five stages across three cartridges. A CFII composite prefilter, the RO membrane, and a NAC anti-bacterial post carbon filter. Fewer parts and fewer connections that can leak.
- Tank-free direct flow. Water is purified as you draw it, so nothing sits stored under your sink and the cupboard stays usable.
- Reduces the contaminants that matter. Particulates, chlorine, hardness, dissolved salts, fluoride, arsenic, nitrates, microplastics, phenols, pesticides and heavy metals.
- Premium pump fitted as standard. Builds working pressure to 4 to 6 bar, so membrane performance does not depend on your mains pressure.
- Anti-bacterial final stage. The NAC post filter guards against bacterial contamination developing in the cartridge between changes.
- Under-sink or countertop. The unit can be sited either way, so it suits kitchens where cupboard space is tight.
Optional mineral filter upgrade, €50
Reverse osmosis removes almost everything dissolved in water, including the minerals that give it body. Plenty of people never notice. Others find unmineralised RO water tastes thin or slightly flat, and that is the most common reason someone is disappointed with an otherwise excellent system.
The mineral filter is fitted inline after the RO stage, so the water picks up calcium and magnesium on its way to the tap. It rounds out the taste and lifts the pH back toward neutral. The amount added is small and controlled, nowhere near the levels found in untreated hard water and not enough to scale a kettle. Choose "With Mineral Filter" at checkout to include it.

Important customer notice
To keep your install quick and safe, please note:
- A compliant, fixed, elevated electrical point must be provided by you
- We do not carry out any electrical work
- A wastewater outlet must be available within 2 feet of the softener
- A small hole may be drilled in the wall for a fail-safe overflow system
- The Alpha needs a standard 230V socket within reach of the unit
- The Alpha runs on an inlet pressure of 1 to 3 bar. A pressure reducing valve is required where mains pressure runs higher, which is common in Irish homes
- Granite, quartz or composite worktops without a spare tap hole need core drilling, quoted separately
Frequently asked questions
Why do I need an RO system if the softener already treats the water?
Softening and purifying are different jobs. A softener exchanges the calcium and magnesium that cause limescale, which protects your pipes and appliances, but it does not remove chlorine, PFAS or other dissolved contaminants, and it is not intended to improve drinking water. The RO system does that, at the kitchen tap.
Why choose the Alpha over your other RO systems?
Low maintenance. Its membrane is rated for three years and beyond, where most domestic systems need one every two, which keeps the long-term running cost down. If outright speed matters more to you, our higher GPD systems produce water faster.
Does the mineral filter undo what the softener does?
No. The mineral filter only affects water at the drinking tap, adding a small controlled amount of calcium and magnesium for taste. It has no effect on the rest of the house, and the amount is far below the levels that cause scale.
Which tap is supplied?
We fit our own dedicated single dispensing tap for purified water. It sits alongside your existing kitchen mixer, which carries on working as normal for washing up and everything else.
My mains pressure is high. Is that a problem?
The Alpha is specified for an inlet pressure of 1 to 3 bar, which is lower than many RO systems accept. Plenty of Irish homes run above 3 bar, so a pressure reducing valve is often needed. This is checked at installation.
Is the price all-inclusive?
Yes. Both systems, the tap, delivery, installation, setup and testing are all included, with no hidden fees.
Does the softener have a strong plastic odour?
No. Our softeners are made with high-quality, odourless, BPA-free materials.
Are there other options?
Yes. Explore our full range of water filtration packages here.
