NuAqua Water Softener and Ecosoft CROSS 90 Balance Bundle
Soft water throughout the house and mineralised reverse osmosis water at the kitchen tap. Our cabinet softener removes 100% of limescale from your supply, and the CROSS 90 Balance purifies your drinking water then puts calcium back in, so it is thoroughly clean without tasting flat. Mineralisation is built into the final cartridge, not an add-on. Both systems professionally installed.
Why you need both, not one
A softener and a drinking water filter solve different problems, which is why buying just one often leaves people half-satisfied.
A softener works on the incoming main and protects everything downstream: your boiler, washing machine, dishwasher, showers and taps. What it does not do is purify. A reverse osmosis system does the opposite. It produces exceptionally pure water, but only at one tap. Fitted together, you get limescale protection through the whole house and genuinely clean drinking water in the kitchen.
The NuAqua Cabinet Water Softener
A compact, high-efficiency volumetric softener built from premium BPA-free, odourless, food-grade materials. At just 225 mm wide it slots into gaps a bulkier softener will not reach.
- Save on energy bills. Hard water reduces heating efficiency. Softening restores boiler and heater performance, helping you save up to 24% annually on energy costs.
- Softer skin and shinier hair. Gentler on skin, especially for eczema or sensitive skin. Soaps and shampoos lather better and skin feels smooth, not dry or tight.
- Eliminate limescale. Untreated water can reduce flow by up to 75% in as little as 18 months. This system prevents that build-up, protecting your plumbing and appliances.
- Cut detergent costs. Use up to 50% less shampoo, soap and detergent, with better cleaning results.
- Extend appliance lifespan. Your washing machine, dishwasher, water heater and shower last longer and need less maintenance.
The Ecosoft CROSS 90 Balance
- Calcium mineralisation built in. The final cartridge is a combined carbon block and mineralising postfilter, bringing the finished water to 40 to 70 mg/L TDS. No separate mineral filter to buy or service.
- Five stages across three cartridges. A complex prefilter, a 600 GPD membrane and the mineralising postfilter. Fewer parts to buy and fewer connections to leak.
- Removes up to 99.8% of contaminants, including PFAS, chlorine, heavy metals and the dissolved minerals that cause limescale.
- NSF 58 certified, along with CE and PZH. The only system in our range carrying NSF certification for reverse osmosis.
- 60% recovery rate. Around six litres of every ten entering the system reach your glass, considerably better than older RO systems that discard three or four litres per litre produced.
- Colour-coded cartridge indicator on the unit. The front panel shows cartridge life with colour warnings and an audible alert as capacity runs down.
- Leak sensor and automatic flushing. The system clears the membrane by itself and monitors for leaks continuously.
- Dry cartridge changes in under 7 minutes. Twisting a cartridge out shuts the inlet flow automatically, so nothing spills into the cupboard. No tools required.
- Booster pump fitted as standard. Keeps performance stable rather than depending on strong mains pressure.
Why the Balance is different
Reverse osmosis removes almost everything dissolved in water, including the minerals that give it body. Plenty of people never notice. Others find unmineralised RO water tastes thin or slightly flat, and that is the most common reason someone is disappointed with an otherwise excellent system.
The CROSS 90 Balance solves that inside the last cartridge rather than with a separate inline filter. Calcium is added back after purification, bringing the finished water to 40 to 70 mg/L TDS. Pure, but with something in it, and nothing extra to buy or replace.

The system is designed for treated mains tap water that already meets drinking water standards. It is not a treatment for water of unknown microbiological quality, and private well supplies normally need iron, manganese or disinfection treatment upstream before an RO system is fitted.
Cartridge replacement
| Cartridge | Interval |
|---|---|
| CF complex prefilter | Every 12 months |
| MCB carbon block and mineralising postfilter | Every 12 months |
| 600 GPD RO membrane | Every 24 months |
The front panel signals when a change is due. After fitting a new cartridge, hold the matching reset button for 5 seconds. The indicator blinks purple twice and then turns solid blue.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I need an RO system if the softener already treats the water?
Softening and purifying are different jobs. A softener exchanges the calcium and magnesium that cause limescale, which protects your pipes and appliances, but it does not remove chlorine, PFAS or other dissolved contaminants, and it is not intended to improve drinking water. The RO system does that, at the kitchen tap.
Does the mineralisation undo what the softener does?
No. It only affects water at the drinking tap, bringing it to 40 to 70 mg/L TDS. That is a fraction of untreated hard water and nowhere near enough to scale a kettle. The rest of the house stays softened.
Do I need to buy a separate mineral filter?
No. Mineralisation is built into the CROSS 90 Balance's final cartridge, so there is no add-on to buy and nothing extra to service. Our other RO systems offer mineralisation as a paid upgrade; this one includes it.
Which tap is supplied?
We fit our own dedicated single dispensing tap for purified water. It sits alongside your existing kitchen mixer, which carries on working as normal for washing up and everything else.
How do I know when a cartridge is due?
The unit's front panel carries a colour-coded indicator for each cartridge, with an audible alert as capacity runs down. One beep means a cartridge is nearing the end, two means it needs replacing.
What does NSF 58 certification mean?
NSF 58 is the international standard for residential reverse osmosis systems, covering material safety, structural integrity and contaminant reduction claims. This is the only system in our range that carries it.
Is it noisy?
The booster pump runs at roughly 40 to 50 dB while producing water, comparable to a quiet fridge. Most audible noise comes from vibration where the unit contacts cabinet walls or rigid pipework, which anti-vibration feet or rubber dampers reduce considerably.
Is the price all-inclusive?
Yes. Both systems, the tap, delivery, installation, setup and testing are all included, with no hidden fees.
Are there other options?
Yes. Explore our full range of water filtration packages here.
