Key features and benefits

  • Tank-free direct flow. Water is purified the moment you open the tap, so nothing sits in storage and nothing goes stale.
  • Four-stage filtration, two cartridges. Sediment and carbon prefiltration, an 800 GPD RO membrane, then a carbon polish — all in two quick-change cartridges.
  • Built-in booster pump. Runs reliably on inlet pressure from just 1 bar, so it doesn't depend on strong mains pressure.
  • Leak sensor and auto shut-off. The system stops itself after 10 minutes of continuous running, with a floor-level leak sensor as a second line of defence.
  • Automatic membrane flushing. A short flush after every use and a preventive flush after 24 hours idle, extending membrane life.
  • Four-segment life indicator. One segment clears every 600 litres; the last turns red at 200 litres remaining and the unit beeps when you open the tap.
  • Tool-free servicing. Both cartridges swap in under five minutes without a plumber.

Why filter your tap water in Ireland?

Irish public water is treated to a high standard, but the EPA's most recent Drinking Water Quality report still flagged trihalomethane exceedances across two dozen supplies, and 35 supplies remained on the Remedial Action List at the end of 2025. Enforceable EU limits on PFAS — the so-called "forever chemicals" — came into effect for drinking water in January 2026, and legacy lead plumbing is still present in many homes built before the 1980s.

Reverse osmosis is the most thorough point-of-use treatment available for a domestic kitchen. It forces water through a semi-permeable membrane with pores measured in fractions of a nanometre, holding back dissolved contaminants that carbon filters and jug filters simply pass through.

Why choose direct flow?

Traditional reverse osmosis systems make water slowly and hold it in a pressurised tank that swallows most of your under-sink space. The CROSS MAX produces water on demand instead — and its 800 GPD membrane and internal pump are fast enough to keep up with a normal kitchen tap, not the slow trickle people associate with older RO units.

  • Cleaner taste. No chlorine, odour, or aftertaste.
  • Limescale protection. Filling your kettle and coffee machine from the RO tap helps extend their life.
  • Water efficient. A 67% recovery rate means roughly two-thirds of the water entering the system reaches your glass, against as little as 30% on conventional RO.
  • Eco-friendly. Encourages reusable bottles and cuts down on plastic waste.

Frequently asked questions

Does the CROSS MAX remove PFAS?

Reverse osmosis is one of the two treatment methods recognised as effective against PFAS, alongside granular activated carbon. The CROSS MAX uses both: carbon prefiltration followed by an 800 GPD RO membrane.

Why choose direct flow over a tank system?

A direct-flow system purifies water on demand, so it never sits in a stored tank. That means fresher water, no bacteria build-up, and a far more compact unit under your sink.

How much water goes to drain?

The CROSS MAX runs at a 67% recovery rate, so roughly two-thirds of the water entering the system comes out purified — considerably better than conventional systems running at around 30%.

Will it work with my water pressure?

Yes. The integrated booster pump means it operates on inlet pressure from 1 bar upward, with 3.5 bar optimal. Where mains pressure exceeds 4 bar we fit a pressure reducer during installation, which is required to keep the warranty valid.

How often do the cartridges need changing?

Both cartridges are rated at 2,000 litres, typically about a year of normal household use. The built-in indicator tells you when, replacement is tool-free, and you press Restart afterwards to reset the counter.

Does it need a power supply?

Yes. The system runs on a standard 230V 3-pin socket, which needs to be accessible near the unit.

Is it noisy?

The booster pump operates at roughly 40–50 dB while producing water, similar to a quiet fridge. Most audible noise comes from vibration against cabinet walls, which our installers eliminate with anti-vibration mounting.

Does it add minerals back into the water?

No — the CROSS MAX produces pure water at 5–15 mg/L TDS with no remineralisation stage. If you'd prefer calcium and magnesium added back for taste, ask us about the CROSS 90 Balance instead.

Can I pair this with a water softener?

Yes. For whole-home limescale protection plus pure drinking water, take a look at our softener bundles. Browse our full range here.
