Why you need both, not one
A softener and a drinking water filter solve different problems, which is why buying just one often leaves people half-satisfied.
A softener works on the incoming main and protects everything downstream: your boiler, washing machine, dishwasher, showers and taps. What it does not do is purify. A reverse osmosis system does the opposite. It produces exceptionally pure water, but only at one tap. Fitted together, you get limescale protection through the whole house and genuinely clean drinking water in the kitchen.

The Supreme Clever 1200 GPD
- 1200 GPD membrane at 2.65 litres a minute. The highest output system we sell, filtering down to 0.0001 micron and removing up to 95% of contaminants.
- Live TDS display on the front panel. You can see the purity of the water the system is producing rather than take it on trust.
- Electronic wear indicator. Tracks the prefilter and the membrane separately, so each is replaced when it is actually due rather than on a fixed schedule.
- Two cartridges, twist to change. No wrench, no housings to unscrew, no water spilled into the cupboard. The whole job takes under a minute.
- Tank-free direct flow. Water is purified as you draw it, so nothing sits stored under your sink.
- Automatic membrane flushing to protect output quality and extend membrane life.
- Pressure pump built in. Works on inlet pressure from 1.4 bar, so it does not depend on strong mains pressure.
Optional mineral filter upgrade, €50
Reverse osmosis removes almost everything dissolved in water, including the minerals that give it body. Plenty of people never notice. Others find unmineralised RO water tastes thin or slightly flat, and that is the most common reason someone is disappointed with an otherwise excellent system.
The mineral filter is fitted inline after the RO stage, so the water picks up calcium and magnesium on its way to the tap. It rounds out the taste and lifts the pH back toward neutral. The amount added is small and controlled, nowhere near the levels found in untreated hard water and not enough to scale a kettle. Choose "With Mineral Filter" at checkout to include it.

Height is the constraint to check on the Clever. At 510 mm it is taller than most under-sink filters, so measure the clear height inside your cabinet before ordering.

Important customer notice
To keep your install quick and safe, please note:
- A compliant, fixed, elevated electrical point must be provided by you
- We do not carry out any electrical work
- A wastewater outlet must be available within 2 feet of the softener
- A small hole may be drilled in the wall for a fail-safe overflow system
- The Clever needs a standard 230V socket under the sink and around 510 mm of clear cabinet height
- Granite, quartz or composite worktops without a spare tap hole need core drilling, quoted separately
Frequently asked questions
Why do I need an RO system if the softener already treats the water?
Softening and purifying are different jobs. A softener exchanges the calcium and magnesium that cause limescale, which protects your pipes and appliances, but it does not remove chlorine, PFAS or other dissolved contaminants, and it is not intended to improve drinking water. The RO system does that, at the kitchen tap.
How much water does the RO system send to drain?
The Clever runs at a 1:1 recovery ratio, so for every litre of purified water it sends roughly a litre to drain. That is normal for a high-output tankless system of this speed. Does the mineral filter undo what the softener does?
No. The mineral filter only affects water at the drinking tap, adding a small controlled amount of calcium and magnesium for taste. It has no effect on the rest of the house, and the amount is far below the levels that cause scale.
Which tap is supplied?
We fit our own dedicated single dispensing tap for purified water. It sits alongside your existing kitchen mixer, which carries on working as normal for washing up and everything else.
Is the price all-inclusive?
Yes. Both systems, the tap, delivery, installation, setup and testing are all included, with no hidden fees.
Will it fit under my sink?
The Clever stands 510 mm tall, which is the main thing to check. Measure the clear height inside your cabinet before ordering. The softener is a cabinet unit and normally sits in a utility room or beside the sink rather than inside the cupboard.
How do I know when the cartridges need changing?
The Clever's electronic panel tracks the prefilter and the membrane separately and tells you when each one is due, so you replace them when they are actually worn rather than on a fixed calendar.
