Tankless Drinking Water Filter
Aplos Alpha Direct-Flow Reverse Osmosis System
A 600 GPD direct-flow system producing 90 litres an hour with no storage tank, built around a patented membrane rated for three years and beyond. Five stages of filtration across just three cartridges, supplied with our own dedicated drinking water tap and professionally installed. Add a mineral filter for €50 if you prefer your water with calcium and magnesium put back in.
Built to be left alone
The membrane is the expensive part of any reverse osmosis system, and on most domestic units it is replaced every two years. The Alpha uses patented membrane technology rated for three years and beyond, which meaningfully lowers what the system costs to run over its life.
The rest of the design follows the same logic. Five stages of filtration are consolidated into three cartridges, so there is less to buy, fewer connections that can leak, and less to think about.
Key features
- 600 GPD membrane producing 90 litres an hour. Direct flow, so water is purified as you draw it with no storage tank taking up the cupboard.
- Patented membrane technology rated for 3 years and beyond. Fewer membrane replacements means a lower cost of ownership than systems needing one every two years.
- Five stages across three cartridges. Fewer parts to buy and fewer connections to leak than a conventional multi-housing system.
- Reduces the contaminants that matter. Particulates, chlorine, hardness, dissolved salts, fluoride, arsenic, nitrates, microplastics, phenols, pesticides and heavy metals.
- Premium pump fitted as standard. Builds working pressure to 4 to 6 bar, so membrane performance does not depend on your mains pressure.
- Anti-bacterial final stage. The NAC post filter guards against bacterial contamination developing in the cartridge between changes.
- Under-sink or countertop. The unit can be sited either way, so it suits kitchens where cupboard space is tight.
- Dedicated drinking water tap included. We supply and fit our own single dispensing tap for purified water, separate from your existing kitchen mixer.
Optional mineral filter upgrade, €50
Reverse osmosis removes almost everything dissolved in water, including the minerals that give it body. Plenty of people never notice. Others find unmineralised RO water tastes thin or slightly flat, and that is the most common reason someone is disappointed with an otherwise excellent system.
The mineral filter is fitted inline after the RO stage, so the water picks up calcium and magnesium on its way to the tap. It rounds out the taste and lifts the pH back toward neutral. The amount added is small and controlled, nowhere near the levels found in untreated hard water and not enough to scale a kettle. Choose "With Mineral Filter" at checkout to include it.
The five stages
Stages 1 to 3. CFII 3-in-1 composite filter. Removes large particles, dirt, rust and sand, then reduces chlorine and chloramine along with the tastes and odours they carry. This cartridge does double duty: it cleans up the water before purification, and it is what protects the membrane behind it from chlorine damage, which is the main reason RO membranes fail early.
Stage 4. 600 GPD reverse osmosis membrane. The purification stage proper, reducing dissolved salts, hardness, heavy metals, nitrates and microplastics.
Stage 5. NAC nano anti-bacterial post carbon. A final polishing filter that sharpens clarity and freshness, with an anti-bacterial element that guards the cartridge itself against contamination between changes.

| Filtration stages | 5, across 3 cartridges |
| Feed water | Municipal tap water or pre-treated well water |
| Feed water TDS | Below 1,500 ppm |
| Inlet water temperature | 5 to 38 °C |
| Inlet water pressure | 1 to 3 bar |
| Operating pump pressure | 4 to 6 bar |
| Maximum iron in feed water | 0.2 ppm |
| Maximum manganese in feed water | 0.05 ppm |

Replacement cartridges
| Stages | Cartridge |
|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | CFII composite 3-in-1 filter |
| 4 | 600 GPD RO membrane |
| 5 | NAC nano anti-bacterial post carbon filter |
Cartridge changes are designed to be done yourself without tools. The membrane is rated for three years and beyond, so it is replaced far less often than the other two.
Installation (Leinster only)
- Included in the price, with no hidden charges
- Fitted by NuAqua-certified technicians
- Supplied with our own dedicated single dispensing tap for purified water
- The optional mineral filter is supplied and fitted at the same visit
- Can be installed under the sink or sited on a countertop
- Requires a standard 230V socket within reach of the unit
- Inlet pressure must sit between 1 and 3 bar. A pressure reducing valve is required where mains pressure runs higher
- Designed for municipal tap water. Private wells need iron and manganese treatment upstream first
- Granite, quartz or composite worktops without a spare tap hole need core drilling, quoted separately
Frequently asked questions
Which tap is supplied?
We fit our own dedicated single dispensing tap for purified water rather than the one boxed with the system. It sits alongside your existing kitchen mixer, which carries on working as normal for washing up and everything else.
Does it need a storage tank?
No. It is a direct-flow system producing water on demand, so nothing sits stored under your sink and the cupboard stays usable.
Does it add minerals back into the water?
As standard, no. The Alpha has no mineralisation stage, so the RO output is pure water. For an extra €50 we fit an inline mineral filter that puts calcium and magnesium back for a fuller taste. Select "With Mineral Filter" at checkout.
Will the mineral filter cause limescale?
No. It adds a small, controlled amount of calcium and magnesium for taste, a fraction of the levels in untreated hard water and not enough to scale a kettle.
My mains pressure is high. Is that a problem?
The Alpha is specified for an inlet pressure of 1 to 3 bar, which is lower than many RO systems accept. Plenty of Irish homes run above 3 bar, so a pressure reducing valve is often needed. This is checked at installation.
Can I use it on a private well?
Only with pre-treatment. The feed water limits are strict, at 0.2 ppm iron and 0.05 ppm manganese, which most untreated well supplies in Ireland exceed. Well water needs treating upstream before it reaches this system.
Does the system need power?
Yes. The pump that drives the membrane runs on a standard 230V socket, which needs to be accessible near the unit.
How does this compare to your other systems?
The Alpha's strength is low maintenance. Its membrane is rated for three years and beyond, where most domestic systems need one every two. If outright speed matters more to you, our 800 GPD systems produce water faster. Compare the full range here.
Are there other options?
High output, low maintenance
