The numbers that matter before you commit

A boiling tap lives on your worktop for a decade. These are the specifications worth checking against anything else you are looking at.

100°C

A genuine boil

Many boiling taps top out around 98°C. Close, but not the same thing when you are brewing tea or blanching vegetables.

4 litres

Around eight cups

Enough in one go for a household of about five. Drain it completely and it refills in roughly 10 minutes.

6 months

Between filter changes

A Qettle Q08 cartridge, with an LED on the unit telling you when it is due rather than leaving you to guess.

2 years

Warranty cover

Tap, tank and filter system together, managed in-house with stock held in Ireland.

Before You Order, and What Happens Next

A boiling tap is a plumbing and an electrical job. Here is the honest sequence, including the things that catch people out.

We check your water pressure

You need at least 1.5 bar on both the hot and cold mains sides. This is the single most common reason a boiling tap disappoints, so it is the first thing we look at. Above 5 bar a pressure reducing valve is required, which we can supply and fit.

We check the space under the sink

A 13 amp socket is needed for the boiler, and the tank needs 80 mm of clearance above it for the hose connections, on top of its 230 mm height. Granite, quartz or composite worktops without a suitable tap hole need core drilling, which we quote separately.

Fitted, and boiling the same day

From completely cold the tank takes about 20 minutes to heat. Before we leave we run you through the two-stage child safety and the LED filter reminder, and you are using it that afternoon.

Boiling tap questions, answered

Is it safe around children?

There are two barriers. The supplied safety clip makes the boiling function impossible to activate at all. With the clip removed, the handle button still has to be held while turning clockwise before any boiling water is dispensed. It cannot be set off by accident or by a casual pull on the handle.

How often does the filter need replacing?

Every 6 months, using a Qettle Q08 cartridge. An LED on the unit tells you when it is due. Changing it on schedule is what keeps limescale out of the boiler tank, so it is worth staying on top of.

What happens if I use all 4 litres at once?

The tank refills and reheats in about 10 minutes. From completely cold, after installation or a holiday shutdown for example, allow 20 minutes.

Does it cost much to leave on standby?

The tank is fully insulated, so standby draw is small. Most households find it works out cheaper overall than a kettle, because you draw the cup you actually need rather than boiling a full kettle for one.

Will it fit my kitchen?

Three things decide it. Water pressure between 1.5 and 5 bar, a 13 amp socket under the sink, and room for the tank, which is 230 mm high and needs a further 80 mm of clearance above for the hose connections. If your worktop is granite, quartz or composite and has no suitable tap hole, it needs core drilling and we quote that separately. Ring us and we will go through all of it before you order anything.
